Eliminate your paper towel use with hand washing
Before I used Norwex I had a container of bleach wipes and a roll of paper towels in my car at all times. I used them constantly! I eliminated this when I found Norwex by keeping a travel pack of envirocloths in my car. The travel envirocloths are a perfect size and I always have a bottle of water on them to dampen them if need be. They are great for cleaning sticky fingers on the go, cleaning spills, wiping down my shopping cart handles and just general cleaning and messes. It comes as a five pack, and they are so handy you will wonder why you didn’t have them before. When they get grubby, just throw them in the wash and they are ready to work for you again. Pair it with the Wet Wipes bag, and it is perfect for any situation! There is a pouch for the clean cloths, and a pouch for the used cloths, so convenient!
Cleaning pet messes without paper towels
I love my pets dearly, but I really hate cleaning up their messes….you all know what I mean. For some of the messes, I am still hesitant to use my Norwex. Not because don’t think it can handle the job, I KNOW it can, but puke? Poop? No, not my Norwex! For these types of messes, it is really handy to have old rags on hand. Fortunately, they don’t happen in our house all that often, but when they do, we have some cloths on hand that I don’t mind really messing up. Once the bulk of the mess has been cleaned, then I go to town with my envirocloth and perhaps some Carpet Stain Remover or Odour Eliminator if need be. For pee messes, I have a “special” envirocloth designated for these tasks (it is also the one that I use to clean around the base of my boys’ toilet). I love having Envirocloths that are many different colors so I can designate certain colors for nasty tasks.
Eliminate your paper towel use in everyday kitchen tasks
Enter the Counter Cloths. They are a newer product, but they have quickly become a staple in our home. Don’t let their size fool you, they are the size of a “select a size” paper towel, but one cloth will absorb a half a cup of liquid. After you use them, rinse out well, and hang to dry. I prefer the counter cloths as purchased with the box set. It is cute, convenient and small enough to fit anywhere in your kitchen, plus it keeps the Counter cloths right where you need them. When you have one that is drying out, I like to drape it over the top of the box set. Its perfect for airing out the cloths that have just been used. The set comes with the rack and six cloths it couldn’t be more perfect for kitchen use. They are perfect for drying hands, cleaning up drips around the sink, wiping spills, and even quick counter wipe downs. Virtually anything you would use your paper towels for! They are also highly economical. This set would pay for itself in just two months in our pre-Norwex home. Plus, they are guaranteed for two years, so it really is a no-brainer.
Keep produce fresh without paper towels
I took an unofficial survey of my Facebook friends and asked what jobs they most commonly use paper towels for. A big answer surprised me until I realized that I used to do the same thing! A common use for paper towels is to keep leafy greens fresh. The towels are dampened and wrapped around fresh greens to keep them crispy and fresh in the refrigerator. The same thing can be done with our kitchen towels. I actually prefer the kitchen towels to the paper towel method, because they are larger and cover even big head of greens completely.
Small changes add up to big differences
Since I have started with Norwex, paper towels are something that is no longer in our budget. I wish that I can say that this was for environmental reasons originally, but it was more about making more room in our grocery budget. As I have educated myself more and more about the environmental impact of many of our convenience products, reducing waste is something that I am more and more passionate about. Paper towels are a huge source of trash in our country, and for what? They are single-use, expensive, and contain bleach which adds to the environmental problem. Did you know that 3,000 tons of paper towel waste are generated every day? We can do better, and Norwex makes the change convenient, easy and cost-effective.
